Light and Darkness

1 John 1:15  “God is light. In Him there is no darkness at all.” hope-light-in-darkness1

This verse provides hope for everyone. We know there is darkness in the world, because we know that the world is full of sin. But not just the world, we are full of sin. You are full of sin. That’s the bad news. We have all turned our backs on God and chosen to live life our way instead of God’s way.

The good news is that God has provided a way to overcome the darkness, namely Himself. God is light because He has no sin. So how do we get this light? The apostle John who wrote this verse, also records the words of Jesus in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” When we put our faith in Jesus, we receive the light of life. This light, being the holiness of God, floods our hearts and forever pushes out the darkness of sin.

I pray that you will be encouraged today that the light ALWAYS overcomes the darkness. The dark sin that continues to plague you has been forgiven because of what Jesus did on the cross. This includes not only your past and present sins, but your future sins as well. You no longer live in the darkness, you live in the light. Thank the Lord today for his gracious provision of Himself for you. He really does love you and is for you today!

All for Jesus,
